Artist In Residence

CECA is offering a unique residency opportunity for artists of various art forms to utilise our fantastic facilities for rehearsal, writing, recording and creative space to develop new and innovative pieces of work. We are interested in working with young artists, artists creating work for young people or artists who work with young people as an integral part of their art.


Artists at all stages of their career have the opportunity to apply to take free long or short-term residencies within the centre where they can both conceive and create their latest piece of theatre, comedy, music, film or other art form.


This is an opportunity for artists to further develop their ideas as well as giving the young people within the centre the chance to work alongside some of the talented creative minds within the industry.


SPACES AVAILABLE

There are various spaces within the building that artists can utilise for free during their residency. These include:

- Fully equipped theatre

- Dance and rehearsal studios

- TV studio including green screen

- Music recording studio

- Radio/Podcast suite

- Media suite


Artists will be able to have dedicated time within these spaces which would be negotiated ahead of the residency commencing. Our technical team will also be on hand to support wherever possible.


Artists will also be provided with dedicated, lockable office space including Wifi and IT equipment (if required). You are also welcome to help yourself to tea and coffee.

AVAILABILITY

Our current residency programme is available at any time up to 31st August 2021 subject to availability. Upon applying please list your preferred dates. 


Spaces are available from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday although some evening and weekends will be available.


ELIGIBILITY OF RESIDENCY

The residency is open primarily to artists who meet any of the following criteria:

- Developing work for young people (we define young people as up to 25)

- Young artists

- Young people are an integral part of your project


It is expected of artists to engage with young people using the centre during their stay. This may be as part of R&D or through delivering a workshop etc.


Please note: We aim to support as many artists as possible, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. If you feel that your company does not meet the eligibility, please contact us on ceca@hartlepool.gov.uk to discuss further.

 

IN-KIND SUPPORT

For the purpose of any funding applications the residency is valued at £500 per week.


ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is not provided however our team are happy to support you in finding local affordable accommodation if required.
